July 13, 2008 at 11:07 P.M. Laurel Police Officers responded to a call for a personal injury hit and run automobile accident involving a Laurel Police Officer.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Route One North bound and Route 198 east bound. PFC Imtiaz Alli was driving north on Route One and upon entering the intersection at Route 198 was struck by a car that ran a red traffic light. Officer Alli’s police car was struck in the left rear portion causing the car to strike a curb and continued across the roadway until it came into contact with a Concrete wall.
The striking vehicle described as a tan or light brown car fled the scene and was last seen going east on Route 198. This car should have damage to the left front portion. Laurel Police have notified surrounding police agencies and requested assistance in locating this car.
PFC Alli was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he was treated for a fractured neck and will be released later today.
The investigation is ongoing and attempts to locate the striking car will continue.
