“True Life: I’m a Laurel Mill Worker”opens February 5, 2012 at the Laurel Museum in Laurel, Maryland.  The exhibit explores a different side of Laurel’s history as a Prince George’s County’s only mill town and the community’s early growth. Using a real 1870s family to tell the story, it introduces visitors to the lives and experiences of the hundreds of men, women and children who worked in town’s cotton mills between the 1830s-1929.  Includes artifacts, diaries, photos, and a re-created Laurel mill workers’ home circa 1870.  Free.  Laurel Museum 817 Main Street, Laurel, MD  www.laurelhistoricalsociety.org. or contact 301-725-7975.  Open Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00-4:00 p.m.
