Appraisal Event and Picnic June 11
Laurel, MD…Is there a fortune in your attic? Maybe you have a thrift shop or garage sale find that you hope could be worth a lot of money? Find out Sunday, June 11, 2017 when the Laurel Historical Society sponsors its third Treasures in the Attic Appraisal Event. Nationally known antiques and art appraiser Todd Peenstra will be on hand to share his expertise starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Cabana Room 14403 Greenview Drive, Laurel, MD 20708, next to Patuxent Greens. Appraisals cost $5/item for LHS members; $10 for non-members
The Treasures in the Attic event will be preceded by the Laurel Historical Society’s traditional “Friends and Family Picnic.” The free event begins at 12 Noon, at the Cabana Room, and all are welcome. Chicken will be provided, and attendees are asked to bring a dish. Names starting with A-H: beverage; I-O: side, P-Z: dessert.

Todd Peenstra is a nationally known antiques and art appraiser. He specializes in handling personal property appraisals for estate settlements, divorces, tax donations, estate planning, estate disbursement and insurance issues. Todd will be on hand offering appraisals, consultations, and advice on anything except books or stamps, including but not limited to furniture, glass, porcelain, paintings, silver, bronze, coins, toys, and documents, etc. Images are also acceptable.
The Laurel Historical Society was founded in 1975 and operates the Laurel Museum. The current exhibit, “Laurel’s World War 1: From Here to Over There” runs through December, 2017. The Laurel Museum is open Wednesdays and Fridays 10-2, Sundays 1-4. Group tours by appointment. Admission is free. The John Calder Brennan research library, which includes newly digitized copies of The Laurel Leader from 1897-2008 is open by appointment Monday-Friday. The Laurel Museum is located at 817 Main Street, Laurel, Md.
